Re: G3 installation problems

CD will not work on old world, the sarge boot floppies should however. You can use the CD to install the system from once you're booted of the floppies, but I'd advise to use the netinstall; it's slower that way you'll get the latest and safest packages.

If you opt to install the quik booloader during the install, you won't need mac at all; neither for installing nor for booting. I've been using it with a mac 7600 and Sarge without problems.

I will try the 'sarge' method later today and see if I have any
luck....does anyone have any ideas that might speed me along?

I installed sarge a few days ago on a ibook g3, without problems.
Simply press the C key during boot (with the sarge cd inserted),
and the sarge installer will automagically start.
