I understand your router preference, my observation is that the
default route for a network is often associated with the first device
(ip number) in a given subnet ie with 192.168.0.0 the first device is
192.168.0.1 - the only thing i noticed in your setup was that the two
routers were effectively on the same subnet, this is not a practice I
employ normally. I am not suggesting you use both all the time, I am
suggesting you assign the two routers to different network addresses
and see if that makes a difference.
