Derrik, Can you tell us where the syntax and semantics for this stuff is documented -- what one puts after "boot" in talking to Open Firmware, and how it interacts with the related environment variables?I would add that the documentation appears to be wrong on this. http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/powerpc/ch-rescue-boot.en.html
Yes, that documentation is out-of-date and often just-plain-wrong. Frequently, the i386 version bleeds over into the PowerPC sections -- probably because there isn't any good PPC documentation to take it's place.
Re-writing the PPC-speccific portion is a project that I'd love to have the time to undertake. I'm currently trying to gather background knowledge and suggestions for when I finally do get into it. That's why I asked Derrik if he had any pointers to useful documentation.
All pointers gratefully accepted! Rick
