i can see the frequency change in /proc/cpuinfo. hmm... scaling on power source.
that seems like a good idea.

ok, i have that module. but where (apart from running hddtemp) can i get a
reading of the CPU temperature?

it didn't even start up. i have no idea what was happening. its working now
though.
