You are right. There is a bug in the keyboard handler of the display
module which disables the shift modifier if lcd autoadjustment is
enabled nevertheless the machine supports this. I commit a corrected
version to CVS soon.

This will also correct the problem that the display brightness can't be
dimmed to 0 on machines without an ambient light sensor.
