I believe that is the case also.  BTW I have a 7043-260 which is one of
the older Power3 machines, I'll send the /proc/cpuinfo this evening when
I get home.

I use yaboot.  This is good because you can give a selection of kernels
to choose from (e.g. on a CD-ROM), stock, power3, power4, 64bit....
