I believe the installer just wants a normal Linux partition named "swap".

I know the original release of Debian 3.0 came with a verion of quik
that was incompatible with the G3 based boxes. There was a patch
floating around, but it may not have gotten put into the installer.
Perhaps someone else on the list knows more about which version is
used by default.
