Right, this is exactly what I happened to observe too, i.e. seeing a b/w
cursor instead of the colorful variant.... I don't know exactly why it
works now, but really all I did was to reinstall all versions to be the
ones from 4.3.0-0pre1v1 and then rebuild the libxcursor stuff and
installing it (including the -dbg version) while I now only kept these
links:

it might be interesting for you to hear that I could not have the glu
and gl dev packages installed, i.e. xlibmesa-gl-dev and xlibmesa-glu-dev
got removed because they conflict with xlibmesa-gl1-dri-trunk ...
