Where exactly does it say that? All the other info you provide indicates
that it's a Mach64 chip in fact.

I assume you mean 4.1.0.

Have you tried a lower depth/bpp ?

Have you tried without custom modes? The X server has standard modes
built in.

The atimisc driver doesn't support this yet.
