Re: Linux voiding warranty for Apple Hardware, or not?

Hi,

Wolfgang Pfeiffer a écrit:
Hi,

Does anybody have any experience with hardware warranty problems for
Apple machines, in Germany or elsewhere, when Linux is/was installed
to this machine?

I'm french, and I've bought my ibook in 08/02
Changed myself the hard disk for a 5400tr/min/40Go in september.
The motherboard (or video chipset ?) die in december 2002.

Contacting Apple customers service, Apple didn't care if Linux was on the disk or not. Of course, they were not happy to know I've changed myself the hard disk, but they only ask me to reinstall the original hard disk (else warranty void :-) ).

After this discussion, my ibook was couple of weeks on holydays in Holland...since this, no more problem.

I simply would like to know whether Linux is voiding this warranty.

No, I don't think.

Best regards.
