The drivers require considerable work to adapt to new Mesa versions. The
flow is Mesa -> DRI -> XFree86, and XFree86 4.2 was released a long time
ago. XFree86 4.3 and CVS is based on Mesa 4.0.x, DRI CVS on 5.0.x
currently.

Which (unsurprisingly) is the same as in your original post, did you
mean the OpenGL renderer string as reported by glxinfo?
