Re: Xfree86 help on PowerBook 17

I suspect it could be kernel config or XF86Config. I have the latest xfree86 from Debian unstable and it reports itself as 4.2.99. It recognises the Geforce4 440 Go OK so I assume this xserver is OK. I will stick with it and try some new kernel configs and XF86Configs first, before trying some XF 4.3.0 sources. Others have said they have it working with 4.3 and I believe some earlier versions too.

The modelines I have tried are:
Modeline "1440x900" 129.73 1440 1480 1616 1848 900 903 906 936 -HSync -VSync Modeline "1440x900" 100.000 1440 1456 1464 1480 900 916 924 940 -HSync -VSync
Are either of these OK???

What kernel configs should I defninately enable for the PowerBook 17" ???

What kernel configs should I defninately NOT enable for the PowerBook 17" ???

What kernel parameters should I pass via yaboot for the PowerBook 17"

Many thanks,
Brendan Simon.

You need a proper config (with the proper modeline), a recent kernel,
and a _recent_ XFree. 4.3 might work, but I'd even suggest something
more revent, like a 4.3.99 snapshot from CVS or something like that...
