Re: dhcp-client v pump

Thanks Christophe

'Cos I'm running a NuBus Mac and my technical knowledge is severely limited, I'm not sure that configuring the kernel is a sensible option for me - even if I had a vague idea how to start. I think I'll stick with pump ;-)

However, I've recently acquired a G4 and I intend to install Woody on that - perhaps I'll revisit it then.

Regards

Clive

It seems that dhcp-client works with 2.2.x kernels but is broken with

~$ apt-cache policy dhcp-client
dhcp-client:
  Installed: 2.0pl5-14
  Candidate: 2.0pl5-14

It works for me with a 2.4 kernel with a not-so-modified Ben default config.

I have recently seen that dhcp-client need some options in the kernel
config to work correctly but I have not investigate further.
My experience with pump is that sometimes the interface is not
configured and I had to call pump manually. But most of the time, pump
did the job by itself. Since I use dhcp-client everything works all the
time.
