Why gcc-2.95.4

I've noticed that my PowerMacs have gcc 2.95.4 running (reported by "gcc -v") but the gnu web site and mirror sites show no existance of such a version. The latest official version in the 2.95 series is 2.95.3.

I assume that debian porters have increased the match number as there have been some changes since 2.95.3. Shouldn't it really be called something like 2.95.3-1, -2, -3, etc ???

Any clarification would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brendan.
