It seems that my new, supposedly full-assed patch was really half-assed.
Or my testing was. It's fine with small files, but not large ones, or
something. Definitely related to endianness.
I think that making off_t and ino_t 64 bit has done other things in
afio. The code has quite a few casts, and maybe some of those are
buggering things up. I'll see what I can do. Koen, do you have access
to a PowerPC system?
