Re: Can't get sound on my G4 500mz working with alsa

I also did a insmod sound dmasound_core

lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by    Not tainted
sound                  73656   0  (unused)
dmasound_core          13640   0  (unused)
soundcore               4968   2  (autoclean) [sound dmasound_core]
af_packet              15464   2  (autoclean)
macserial              39364   0  (autoclean)
lp                      8064   0  (autoclean)
parport                30624   0  (autoclean) [lp]
rtc                     1792   0  (autoclean)
unix                   18216  23  (autoclean)

then restarted alsa

This is what happens when i restart alsa

/etc/init.d/alsa restart
No ALSA driver installed
No ALSA driver installed
ALSA driver isn't running.
No ALSA driver installed
Starting ALSA sound driver (version none):modprobe: Can't locate module snd
failed.

I have gone back through with dselect and made sure I have the most current alsa files that are availble (vs .9) and I did not see any thing for just alsa drivers.

I just installed a lot of sounds apps and conf.. including alsa.  I have been using alsa in my SuSE box and it has been working just fine there.  Can I move the same settings over and use that or do I have to configure it on my Debian box.  Also I ran alsaconf and the text conf does not have any ppc drivers...

This is one of my last things to configure.

Thanks in advanced.
