On my OF 1.0.5 machine with scsi and quik, I can just specify a boot-device in
boot vars and leave the boot file alone (blank} - boot-device scsi-int/sd@0:0.
Quik should take care of the rest, assuming that you have ever gotten it to boot
and let it write the boot blocks. ATA may behave differently though....
