Re: pumpd failing to renew lease

Ok, I installed a tulip 10/100 eth i/f in the box. And now have 24h of pumpd working just fine... seems dhcp lease flakieness is connected to pumpd leasing for MACE and BMAC eth i/f. This is an interim solution for me so I'll try out dhcp-client on the BMAC i/f and will post an update.

Anyone know if a solution was discussed or if it got narrowed down ?

well some discussion of pump on debian-boot tends to indicate its an
RFC ignoring, unreliable peice of crap. but its also small.... i don't
care for dhcp in general and don't use/need it so i don't know for
sure how accurate that is.

looking at alternatives what is the difference between:

dhcp-client - DHCP Client

i think this is the one preferred by debian

dhcpcd - DHCP client for automatically configuring IPv4 networking

i think this is the one that is full of security holes and many debian
developers want removed from the archive.

but the whole dhcp client issue is somewhat clouded so take the above
with preferred quantity of salt.
