I'm terribly sorry but there is not, in fact, an installation guide in
the same directory as the XF86Config.  Could you tell me where I might
find this guide.

Any depth greater than 8 gives the same error.

Okay, this information seems like it might be helpful, but I tried all of
those options in the Device section, and still can't get more than 8bpp.
And I have been using the append option in yaboot.  Is there something else
I'm supposed to do that you weren't clear on in your suggestions?  Please
assume I know nothing about X configuration; you wouldn't be far off.
