the existence of RSA's patent has nothing to do with the existence of
non-us.  the reason non-us exists is because the US has previously not
allowed export of strong cryptography, thus placing ssh in US servers
would have violated US law.  (see the long arduous persecution of Phil
Zimmerman several years back).

i know, its irrelevant.

US laws on export regulation have recently changed but its far from
clear whether its really safe to export cryptography or not, Ben
Collins is consulting with a lawyer to find out.
