more likely people would just go back to getting the intel crap
laptops where they at least have usable video.  face it, there is not
enough interest in powerpc (thus apple) hardware to drive an effort to
totally reverse engineer this junk hardware when there is another
archetecture with better choices (albeit a lame arch that it is...)

i would hope apple would realize that, there really are quite a few
people buying apple's laptops and even desktop machines solely to run
GNU/Linux on, those people are not going to suddenly start buying them
for OSX instead just because apple puts hopelessly proprietary
graphics in, instead they will just go back to x86 stuff.  -- hardware
sales loss for apple.
