method 1:  dselect
method 2:  apt-cache search gnome | less, pick, remember, apt-get install foo
method 3:  dselect clone.  0
method 4:  tasksel, pick gnome, go.  or tasksel install gnome (might
not be implemented fully/at all yet).  

method 4 is the replacement for the hideous kludge that is task-
packages.
