I believe I am now in possession of a build of this version of gdb that works
on PowerPC :-). At least, I played with makefiles and headers until it built
(well, a little more carefully than that makes it sound), and it does start up
w/o dying instantly. It's almost 2 in the morning here now, though, so I'm
going to bed - if this version works OK after a little testing in the morning
(and everything I did still seems sane by then) I'll submit the patches to
this bug # and put binaries up somewhere...

<warning>I'm just another person who is inconvienenced by the lack of a
working GDB for threads, not someone who actually works with/on GDB. So when I
put these patches up, please pay a little bit of attention before merging
them, because they were done in a fairly nearsighted manner...</warning>
