I found gimptool in /usr/bin where configure and make expected to find it. The libgimp1 package is installed, so libgimp and libgimpui libraries should be accessible. However, when configure tries to perform gimptest or anything that needs the gimpui library, things bomb. I even went so far as to retrieve the gimp sources, copying the libgimp directory (for its header files) in /usr/include in an attempt to rectify the problem. Is the libgimp1 package broken? The only way to get through the configure script was to issue ./configure --disable-gimptest.

Ok. Now: the make-deb.sh script. After much trial and error, I finally got the make-deb.sh script to complete. I now have a .deb file entitled gs-stp_5.10-10.1_powerpc.deb. I installed it using dpkg. However, the documenation mentioned an stp driver, but I didn't see it after issuing gs -h. Am I looking for the right thing? I am trying to use a combination of gs-stp, magicfilter, and lprng.

Thanks for your help.
