Version: 3.6.1.1
Severity: wishlist

Maybe in Section 10. Files, mention to please don't add redundant
suffixes to (at least) /usr/bin (etc.) filenames like .pl, .sh, .awk.
(Later it would be much easier to just change the contents of
/usr/bin/blorb than needing to make /usr/bin/blorb.pl into
/usr/bin/blorb.py etc.)

Or mention it in perl-policy, awk-policy ... :-(

Why should we make policy to prohibit any suffixes? Policy is
not a best practices document. Transitioning a executable name is
something the developer needs worry about, if it is ever done. There
is no need to add prohibitions like this to prevent potential
 transitions in the future.
