I'd wager that the number of users who would actually try to run an init
script and really get confused at strange error messages is minute.
If it's an admin who forgot to type sudo before the command, they'll
figure out what's wrong in a second.

So, I agree, if we tried to fix this it would take too much work for too
little gain.
