     `/usr/doc/copyright/GPL' in the Debian GNU/Linux distribution or on
  dpkg --fsys-tarfile <filename>.deb | tar xof usr/doc/<\*>copyright | less
          file from `/usr/doc/<package>/copyright' to
          `/usr/doc/copyright/<package>'.  If it isn't then find
             * Change `/usr/doc/examples/<package>' to
               `/usr/doc/<package>/examples'.
$



This seems to include some cases for a s|/usr/doc|/usr/share/doc|
