What's the difference between a pixmap, bitmap and an icon?
Pixmaps can be used as icons and bitmaps as well.
Add to this the fact that on my system (up-to-date potato), I have
only 8 files in /usr/share/pixmaps, of which 6 are PNG files and only
two are XPM files, I think the distinction is confusing and unhelpful.
