Re: /etc/init.d/README and policy manual

According to Christian Schwarz:

Well, I think it is important to keep policy like this in one place,
so prevent having contadicting or out of date instructions.

I will put the following in /etc/init.d/README:

Configuration of Init under Debian GNU/Linux

Most Unix version have a file here that describes how the scripts
in this directory work, and how the links in the /etc/rc?.d/ directories
influence system startup/shutdown.

For Debian, this information is contained in the policy manual, chapter 3.4:
system run levels. The home site for the Debian Policy Manual is at

http://fatman.mathematik.tu-muenchen.de/~schwarz/debian-policy/

You can also find a copy on the developer's corner of the Debian
website, http://www.debian.org/ or one of its many mirrors.

The Debian Policy Manual is ofcourse also available as a debian package.
