Sure. Why not? As long as there is someone that takes (most of the)
care, I am all for it. I can't imagine a better place for any
perl-related package ;)

I am happy to do the work, I wouldn't mind a little nitpicking now and then though. A little advice would be helpful. :)

As of git vs. svn, this is your call. There is an apps/ directory in
svn too.

I have been using git for a while and would like to try managing packages with it.

I will try to get the necessary packages into the svn repo first, someone emailed me the other day asking when asciio would be ready so I feel an obligation to get my act together.
