I send this mail to talk about packaging Jifty in debian
I'm Yves Agostini, my day job is network admin and security officer in a
french university : Metz (East of france)
I use perl and debian for years.
I make my own packages for years, but I'm not absolutely an expert.
You can see my repository here http://ftp.univ-metz.fr/debian/dists/ not
really fine in debian policy :( but useful for backporting
Since sept 2006 I use Jifty : a perl MVC framework. I think must of
people in this list know it ;)
Now I have two applications on production servers.
I make debian packages for the jifty team since nov 2006 for sarge and
now etch
http://debian.jifty.org/debian/dists/etch/jifty/
I think that now Jifty is in a near stable development phase and it
would be fine if it will be package in a futur debian release.
Packaging jifty is not absolutely easy ;) There's a lot of dependencies.
While talking yesterday on irc with dam (Damyan Ivanov). He advised me
to send this mail with the list of package to add in unstable :

other packages are build with dh-make-perl --build --cpan
and need sometimes to add dependencies with new packages
I make this quick packages in virtualbox. It certainly need more love.
Jifty produce this main packages

there some more plugins, but now I don't make their dependencies
packages.

Make an ITP for each 40 packages is maybe not the best solution ?
dam advised me to create a guest account in alioth, it's "yvesago-guest"
but I don't now what to do with :)
