I wouldn't find it overly suprising if it was apparmor striking here.
Though I didn't see this even with apparmor enabled in my package
upgrades in my sid VM..

That one disables apparmor for LO again, but needs a apparmor restart
(or reboot) to make apparmor notice that I guess.
Other than that: strace and/or syslog/journalctl when it happens
(apparmor?) please.
