I read this in the OpenOffice.org 1.0.3 Changelog 
(http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/1.0.3/release_notes_1.0.3.html#bugfixes):
"OOo 1.0 gets killed on start up by GNOME Session Manager" in the "Other 
bugs which were found and fixed but were not filed in IssueZilla:" section.
