I do not have 'english' as an available locale on my system.  Please set your
LANG variable to something valid, such as en_US.  You can list the available
locales with 'locale -a'.

I've a feeling that won't solve your problem yet, so please report back.
You may like to enable core dumps with

  ulimit -c unlimited

and get a stack trace from that (backtrace command in gdb), or send the dump
to me.
