I got a successfully build for PPC .. (but with newer binutils/gcc)

because debhelper has a bug, which makes OOo unpackageble ...

for PPC yes! Upstream dropped the support for older gcc on linux-ppc as
gcc-3.1.1. On Intel we can use the gcc-3.0 from, I think!
