Yes, it is a good idea and I've implemented it. I provided the Makefiles
(patched) because it illustrate how to use mwrap. However I have dropped
the 'fem' examples since they contain generated files using an
unpackaged software (matexpr which is another tool of the upstream
developer).

I did it initially because I was tired of the Lintian warning. But
Ok I've reverted the change and installed the NEWS file as such. It
should be noted that the policy is not clear about it, as pointed by
others (http://bugs.debian.org/459427). However it is true that most of
the packages use the convention you've described (It is also the one
implicitly enforced by dh_installchangelogs).
