Hello all. This is Chris Gebhardt, lead InfoCentral developer. I haven't
posted here for awhile due to my general busyness and also the lack of
traffic. But I just wanted to post a general update on InfoCentral's status.

We are currently nearing the end of the 1.2.x release cycle and planning is
finally stepping up for future work. Version 1.3.0 will be the beginning of
a maintenance release cycle for some relatively small but needed database
changes and feature adds. This is basically a holdover for version 1.4.0 (or
perhaps eventually dubbed 2.0), which is now planned to be a heavy overhaul.

We are preparing to switch to a more professional and maintainable MVC /
3-tier design. Since this is such a drastic change, I am investigating many
options and looking at possibilities to standardize on and develop a really
solid PHP application framework. I hope that all NP database projects
discussed on this list may one day be able to share the same foundation.

I am currently in contact with the DiscipleMakers guys regarding their Doulos
framework. Since the Calendula folks haven't begun actual coding yet, they
may be interested in this as well. I've checked out their proposed schema
and they've got some good ideas too. In addition, I have some individual
contacts that are interested in interface design overhauls.

When I have some solid answers regarding future development of both
InfoCentral and an application framework, I shall post them here.

Lots of changes and lots of work, but I'm excited about the possibilities!
Here's to collaboration! (:

Chris
