I support Ian Beckwith's application for DM status.

I have been sponsoring his git work since mid-2004. In that time, he
has tidied the package somewhat, updated it to new Standards-Versions,
handled the messy git/git-core/gitfm situation with a transition,
cooperated with debian-release on that and lately become the upstream
maintainer for this useful GNU software.

Recently, I have not needed to intervene in his packaging. If
anything, his packaging seems to be better than mine now and has
caused me to go look some forgotten rarely-used things up to check(!),
so I don't expect giving DM to cause any problems.

I'm glad that he has applied for NM. I had the great honour of
meeting ianb at the recent DebConf7 and we discussed NM, among other
things. It's a bit of a shame that it's taken such a readily-
verifiable long-term contributor over a year to get through AM
processing.

I am not currently subscribed to -newmaint (blood pressure).
Please cc me on replies.

Best wishes,
