F38A5D8D 2001-12-11 MJ Ray <markj@cloaked.freeserve.co.uk> MJ would like to have "mjr" as his login name on Debian machines. He has read and agreed to the DMUP. He'd like his Debian mail forwarded to mjr@dsl.pipex.com Philosophy & Procedures ----------------------- MJ explained the Social Contract to my satisfaction. He is also familiar with our procedures. He is involved with the UK's Association For Free Software http://www.affs.org.uk/ and a websearch quickly reveals that he actively supports Free Software. Interestingly, MJ introduced Thom May and Paul Russell (both of Apache fame in one way or another) to Free Software. From Thom: Mark Ray is one of the major reasons I'm a debian user - he's one of the people who introduced me to the distribution. He's an extremely talented coder in numerous languages, and is highly dedicated to the ideals of Free Software. I think he would a valuable and vocal addition to the Debian community. Tasks & Skills -------------- MJ has been working with Debian systems for a while ahd he has backported stuff from unstable to testing for his own uses. Looking at the BTS he's also active there. He currently maintains wily: Package: wily Priority: optional Section: editors Maintainer: MJ Ray <markj@luminas.co.uk> Description: A work-alike of the Acme programming environment for Plan 9 Wily's basic functions are to edit and search for text and to run commands. It is intended to eventually be an integrated working environment for all tasks involving text. It uses the mouse heavily. . It emphasises speed for experienced users, but is probably simple to learn as it has very few concepts. The packaging looks ok. Recommendation -------------- I recommend that MJ is accepted as a Developer. -- Marcelo | "Woof bloody woof." mmagallo@debian.org | -- Gaspode the Wonder Dog | (Terry Pratchett, Moving Pictures)
