I just recently (a few months ago) replaced my 5000/25 and 5000/240
with a couple Cobalt RaQ units (in an overall effort to make room
and reduce my electric bill). They were still in perfect working
order, and the guy to whom I gave them runs Debian's generic kernel
packages on them, but I could probably help him compile a kernel
if/when he's ready to upgrade. Doesn't sound like a big deal in the
overall fight to keep the mipsel port healthy.
