okay, any hope of seeing someone find a fix for this issue soon?

Actually, it seems that an broken patch to solve this problem went into
the debian kernel, and not the real fix (which was tested to solve it
on a Cube2). I'm waiting for confirmation, and if this speculation
turns out to be correct, the next debian revision of the kernel will
include the proper fix.
