serial port indy

Hi,
   I,m not able to detect my modem 56k us robotics. 
wvdial doesn't see a modem.
  The machine is a ip22 indy r4600 133mhz.

  I'v tried the setserial configuration but no result.
  I've compared with my ppc under debian 3.0 too and i
see no difference between serial configuration.
  Is there a special way to do it ?
