Debian requires source packages for sponsoring, please read through our intro:

Git repositories should contain only source files, no generated files,
especially .deb files.
In general, the Debian packaging should be in a debian/ subdir not
scattered throughout the top-level dir. Also we generally suggest
maintaining the debian/ dir separately to the upstream source.
