I know the original maintainer privately and it looks like he is extremely unlikely to work on timeshift (and any other Debian work) in the foreseeable future. For now, I will not work on fixing it or salvaging the package since it's a perfectly valuable chance for you (Steve) to practice and participate in Debian's work. Steve: I took a look at the source package you provided on mentors.debian.net. Actually wrar gave some valuable advice and there are some bugs that *must* be fixed before anyone accept your work (namely the duplicated changelog entries). If you are unsure about what changes you made, please take advantage of the debdiff(1) tool and check the differences between the existing version and your proposed version.
