Just install deboostrap and issue
mkdir debian-sid
debootstrap sid ./debian-sid http://http.debian.net/debian/

https://wiki.debian.org/Debootstrap -- BTW the first hit if you google
"Debian debootstrap"

My last Wheezy install went through without any problems. But that've
been some time ago. If I rememember correctly, the firmware it asks for
is just for the network.

However, your mileage varied, but this needs probably more information
from your side. What's your hßardware, to start with? Which installer
did you use? the net installer? Which release? Wheezy?
(You should not use the unstable/sid installer as this ride might be
bumpy; Better ist to install the last stable and then upgrade to sid; Or
give the alpha for Jessie a try, 'cause that needs some testing anyway)
What are the XOrg logs telling you?

BTW, you can always ask on #debian for help if you stuck.. This would
probably also faster than the mentors list (for which this also
off-topic)
