Please note that native packages should have debian/ packaging in
their VCS and make a new release for every change to debian/, however
minor.

Please mention the VCS info in the upstream tarball somewhere. HACKING
or README.devel or something.

About github, you might want to switch to collab-maint instead:

If you are going to switch packaging formats, I think that is a good
idea to mention why in the changelog.

The bug should simply be closed, mentioning your RFS mail.

This one can be ignored if you intended to switch to a native package.
It will go away for the upload after the one switching to native
