The packaging is now good!
However, vidalia doesn't work very nicely with the Debian package for Tor.
Are you aware of and have you read Item 6 of:
https://www.torproject.org/volunteer#Projects
As vidalia currently stands it's not really usable with the Debian package
for Tor since the user needs to mess about with the configuration of both to
get things working.
