I'm not your sponsor, but you might find it interesting to know that a
colleague of mine wrote a sudoku program about a year ago. He not only wrote a
horribly fast program, but he also proved that all sudoku puzzles are derived
from a fairly limited set of basic forms. His program, as you might expect,
not only *solves* but also *generates* puzzles. That feature might be useful
for those who want to solve these puzzles by themselves.

So, if you're interested: his name is Arnold Meijster, and he can be reached
at a.meijster@rug.nl. If you try to contact him: he's on vacation right now,
and I don't know if he reads his mail while away, but he'll probably be back
in a few weeks.
