Find a neglected perl or python package at:
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/
Try to offer a sensible help (patches, translations, etc... whatever you can 
deal with... ). Sibmit your work to BTS [1].

... Or bettet yet try to fix a RC-bug (Release Critical bug [2]) in such a 
package. Submit your patch or solution to BTS. You can also find Perl and/or 
Python related packaging projects to contribute to at: 
http://alioth.debian.org/
