$ ls -l /usr/lib/X11
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root 16 Jun  8 22:26 /usr/lib/X11 -> ../X11R6/lib/X11

Its the "same" directory.  Are you sure that they are actually
installed to /usr/X11R6/, and not just because the symlink points
there?  What packages?
